HARD WORK - #1 had a hard crash at the end of last week`s race in Atlanta, yet his DEI team totally rebuilt it - it`s #1`s favourite car - and got it good enough to put it on the pole. After Atlanta, the wrecked car arrived back at DEI`s shops at 2am Monday morning, and the team went to work on it immediately. No one works harder than NASCAR crews and you have to admire their hustle getting the car turned around so quickly.

THE NEWS - Bruton Smith is purchasing NHIS track for $340 million in cash. This week is the last race for Scott Riggs at GEM team. He`ll be replaced starting next week at Phoenix by Patrick Carpentier. RYR team is auctioning off most all of its car-building equipment at the end of the season, as RFR team will be building all its cars in the future. Joe Nemechek has signed a 3-year deal to drive the #78 Fumiture Row Chevy.

THE TOP 10 - #1 starts from the pole, followed by ## 24-42-29-84-2-11-48-25-01.

THE CHASE - Mathematically, hte only guy out of the Chase is #1, who will fall out as soon as #24 takes the green flag. All 10 other Chasers are still alive in theory, but in reality, it`s down to #24 and his HMS teammate #48. #24 outqualified #48 and will start 2nd while #48 rolls off 8th. On the other hand, #48 was fastest in Happy Hour, with #24 way back in 31st. Neither man has ever won here.

WELCOME RACE FANS - It`s Sundat @ Texas Motor Speedway, site of the upcoming Dickies 500, race #36 of 38 on the NNCup shedule and the 8 of 10 events in the Chase for the NCup. The weather is hot and sunny, the track will be good and greasy starting out and will cool off late, when we`ll finish under darkness. We`re going to have a great day of racing here, so fire up the grille, pop the top off a cold beverage and get ready to kick it over 334 laps and 500 miles.

KEYS TO THE RACE - No mistakes, manage your tires and plan your passes in advance. Although Texas looks a lot like Atlanta, the teams sat it`s much, much tougher to pass here.
