The expert’s tip: Bednaruk would put his money on Rockenfeller and Spengler
Thanks to him, the Russian crowds on site are perfectly informed on what is going on in the DTM races. Sergey Bednaruk is the race caller for the DTM action at the Moscow Raceway. In addition he is a true motor-racing expert who also works as TV commentator and publishes articles in numerous motor-racing magazines. In his expert’s tip he tells us what he is expecting from the DTM race meeting in Russia and who will be the beaming winners.
On the season so far: “The first half of 2016 DTM season was great. With the new performance-weight regulations, the battles in the field have become even more intense. Nine winners in 10 races – that speaks for itself. All the three manufactures already celebrated two race wins at least, this year. The balance of power in 2016 is closer than ever. All the first race weekends were really interesting – we saw some fantastic races. So I really am looking forward to the exciting weekend at the Moscow Raceway. It will be mega!”
On the Moscow Raceway: “The Moscow Raceway is a very technical circuit with very smooth surface. Fast and slow corners, two long straights and on the way to the final corner the drivers have to brake really hard – all this makes for an interesting mix. Thanks to the DRS, the final corner could be a particularly good overtaking spot. A good setup is crucial on this track, so the practice sessions on Friday and Saturday will be very important. For the fans on site there will be one new thing this year: for the first time, one of the DTM support series at Moscow Raceway will be the SMP F4 NEZ, featuring several talented young Russian drivers on its grid. Who knows, maybe one of them will be next DTM star, in future.”
Bednaruk’s expert tip: “It’s very difficult to say who will win because DTM is so unpredictable – anyone could win! All the three brands won races in Moscow in the past three years. But only one driver did it twice – Mike Rockenfeller. Looks like he has a key for this track and after such difficult first part of the season I think he will be really motivated to celebrate another success on Russian soil. So I bet that Rocky will win one of the races at Moscow Raceway. Another specialist of Moscow Raceway is Bruno Spengler – in last two years he secured three podiums there. That’s why I think he has got good chances of winning in Russia.”
